Traveling this holiday season will be different from years past. With an abundance of changes in place due in part to the pandemic, it is of even greater importance to prepare to travel safely this year. There are certain precautions that should be taken before setting off on a trip. The following are tips to ensure safe travels for this holiday season.

In order to ensure travels go as smoothly as possible, it’s important to become familiar with all new rules and safety regulations. Whether traveling through a major airline or through Amtrak it’s important to read over all new safety measures. If flying, become familiar with the new protocols at airports nationwide. Each airline also has new flying regulations that have been implemented and can vary from one another. When selecting an airline be sure to read over these new safety measures carefully in order to be fully prepared to travel.

It is highly encouraged before traveling to take the time to get tested for the Coronavirus. This is not only a benefit for one’s own health, but it is to ensure the health and safety of others. Take responsibility and ensure no one else’s health is being compromised by having a test done.

Once tested and it is safe to travel it’s time to get all safety gear in order. It is important to make sure all safety gear is ready to go before setting off on a trip. Make sure that face masks fit properly so there are no surprises on the day of traveling. Hand sanitizer is also heavily recommended for when the opportunity does not present itself to wash hands on the go.

Lastly, keep a positive attitude through travels this holiday season. Traveling in itself can be a stressful undertaking, however in the midst of a pandemic it certainly does not get any easier. Patience is of the utmost importance as new safety regulations have taken a toll on companies. It’s important to remember that everyone is in this together. Treat those who are assisting the public in the middle of this crisis with respect and compassion. They are putting their lives on the line to continue helping the country move forward amidst this pandemic.
